Notes comments on his retirement by a friends:
In sport too he has always been to the fore. In
"Cricket, in tennis, in golf, as all of you know, he is still a formidable
opponent- although I fear his soccer days are over, but there was a time when he
was the best back the territory has seen. We well remember the game on the
padang- close upon a quarter of a century ago, between Sandakan and H.M.S.
Yarmouth when our back, it was Mr. Morrell, took a mighty kick at the ball and
a Cockney Jack Tar made the priceless remark "Blimey, Guvnor, keep it on
the island".
